If you’re like most of the population during this season, you’re trying to figure out what to get family and friends for Christmas. After all, it is the season of giving ~ and getting. There’s a special desire to see that look of joy on the face of the receiver. We may settle for a look of pleasure, but we never want to see a frown, or a look of disappointment, as a gift is unwrapped.
God thinks like that too! He created the world, gave Adam food and something to do ~ run the world ~ then God added a beautiful wife to the mix. Even after they made some poor decisions, God clothed them and blessed their efforts as they had children and became herdsman and farmers. He put multiplication in the earth when He made it, and His blessing continues today.
God was the first Giver … and continues to be the best Giver. Christmas marks the day we celebrate the birth of God’s Son, Jesus. God had no reason to give us that precious Gift ~ except for His love for you and for me. Jesus could have stayed in Heaven ~ except for His love for you and for me.
So during Jesus’ Birthday Season, what will you be giving Him? If you haven’t thought about it, I’d encourage you to do so. If you have, what will it be? As you hurry from place to place thinking about others that you love, spend some time thinking about the One who loves you more than any one else could. Really, the gift of you is what He wants most!
So, what will you be giving Jesus? After all, it is His birthday. If you’re thinking He wouldn’t want your gift ~ the gift of you ~ think again! He created you, and knows what He put inside, so let Him show you what a true gift you’ve always been to Him! Then have the very best Christmas ~ ever!
